The highest total of the Dubai International Cricket Stadium is 355/5 scored by England against Pakistan in 2015. Sri Lanka team highest record on this pitch is 287/8 against Pakistan scored in 2013. Bangladesh will play their first ever ODI at this ground. Last time in Bangladesh tri-nation series 2018 these two teams were against each other in ODI format. Three matches had been played between these two teams, first match Bangladesh won by 163 runs Jan 19, 2018, second match Sri Lanka won by 10 wickets (with 229 balls remaining) Jan 25, 2018, and in the tri-nation series final, Sri Lanka won by 79 runs.

Four out of the five ODIs played last year at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium were won by the side chasing. The only team to lose batting second was Sri Lanka. The temperature is expected to be in the mid-30s throughout the game. Liton Das is likely to open with Tamim, while Ariful Haque and Mohammad Mithun are vying to replace Sabbir Rahman, who was dropped alongside Anamul Haque. Sri Lanka have Lasith Malinga back, and will likely be replacing Akila with Dilruwan Perera, who has had some success against Bangladesh in the recent past. Niroshan Dickwella and Shehan Jayasuriya are also on call.

Mashrafe Mortaza wins the toss and Bangladesh opt to bat first.

Mashrafe says: “good wicket to bat first. We’ve heard there can be turn later on, so better to bat first and make a good total. Boys are in form after West Indies. Bowlers have done well too.”
Mathews says: “I would’ve wanted to bat first too, but the toss is beyond our control. Good to have Malinga back too. It’s a fresh series, fresh opposition so we need to start well. The heat is absolutely terrible but you can’t think about it. Bangladesh are also playing with the same heat.”
