South Africa won the toss and their team captain Faf du Plessis chose to bowl first and Pakistan team captain was also happy with the decision because they wanted to bat first. Pakistan team were all out in the end of the second session of the day with 177 runs on the board. Sarfraz Ahmed (c) † was the top runs scorer with 56 runs, Shan Masood scored 44 and Mohammad Amir 22 not out. D Olivier took four wickets, DW Steyn took three, K Rabada took two and remaining one wicket was taken by VD Philander.
