Pakistan and New Zealand played a total 103 ODI matches of all time 53 won by Pakistan and 47 won by New Zealand, one tied and two got no result. The highest total of the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi venue is 313/9 scored by Pakistan against Sri Lanka in 2007. New Zealand best performance at this ground was showed in 2009 against Pakistan they scored 303/8 and won that match by 64 runs. So Pakistan have won the t20i series by 3-0 which may give them a huge confidence in ODI format.

The afternoon start means dew could be a factor in the second innings, but since it remains uncomfortably hot during the day, teams may find it easier to field at night, as several of them did during the Asia Cup. New Zealand have come into this ODI series with several all-around options of their own. They also have no less than four out-and-out seamers to choose from, and therefore aren’t short of decisions to make either. It’s a bit of a toss-up to see who Pakistan leave out, given how well both T20I series went, and the successful reintroduction of both Mohammad Hafeez and Imad Wasim since the Asia Cup. An abundance of options can sometimes befuddle a team’s thought process, but it’s hardly the worst problem to have.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat.
