Independence Cup 2017 Highlights
World XI captain du Plessis was quite impressed with the security they were provided. Osman, at the Gaddafi Stadium, says the crowd has built up slowly so far. There are plenty of people outside, with security personnel too. Najam Sethi, PCB chairman, has also tweeted that tickets are available for all three games. This is just a beginning of, and a huge step towards, putting Pakistan back on the map in the cricketing world. As an Indian, I have respect for the PCB and what they have done to ensure that they can bring international cricket back to their country. Congratulations and good luck to everyone, especially the Pakistani fans. Its been a long wait. stanton: “Lets hope that today is the start of a very bright and promising future for Cricket in Pakistan, and that lovers of cricket will support Pakistan in their challenge to bring the sport back to Pakistan. Looking forward to a great game, and the next few games as well…” Umair Anees: “Today, I feel that my comment will get the spotlight, finally. Today I deserve to get publish my comment for the very first time. Reason: I live in Lahore” Why not Umair.
There aren’t many global events in world cricket, but the next few days is certainly one of them, as Pakistan embrace the return of the sport after years of thirst to its lands. They will take on a certain World XI that have gathered in Lahore, to help world cricket improve its overall viewing spectacle. And cricket definitely needs cricket in Pakistan, and here’s Osman Samiuddin on the strife of the sport in the country. But don’t for a moment expect this to be a series of exhibition matches as several international stars, including South Africa’s newest all-format leader, and recently-retired international players gear up to take on the Champions Trophy champs. Wow, this promises to be a cracking, electrifying night. Mohsin: “International cricket is back to Pakistan, and yes! Its a joy and happiness for fans of Pakistan. This gives a peaceful message all over the word, that cricket has no language except than love and enthusiasm.”
